Testimonials From The 2023 Sew-A-Thon Winners

"The prize bundle from My Girlfriend's Quilt Shoppe is ah-mazing!!! It came with five - FIVE - rotary cutter blades, which is a treasure trove itself! The seam ripper is sooo comfy to hold, even through extra long 'oopsie-rectivication sessions.' This was definitely the prize I needed! It's like a power-up to my tool box!"

- Ashley H

"OOH! What a fun collection! I didn't need or expect prizes for the Sew-A-Thon but this is such a treat! Thank you to Sweet Pea for these great products. I've been interested in trying some machine embroidery and now I'm ready to go!"

- Bonnie F.

"My Sew-A-Thon Prize came from My Girlfriend's Quilt Shoppe. To my surprise I saw them at the International Quilt Festival in Houston and thanked them in person. They were so excited to meet someone who had gone to Zambia and said they need to go too."

- Carla R.

"What a great gift! Thank you to My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe for such a generous donation! I am still using my original rotary cutter that I bought when I made my first quilt in 1991, so the rotary cutter is quite a blessing for me! Thanks for your generous support for Sew Powerful and the magnificent work they are doing in Zambia."

- Elaine B.

"I was a HUGE winner. Thank you, thank you, thank you SwPea.com for sponsorship of this prize for the recent Sew Powerful sewathon. This prize contents include a new pair of cutting shears, 18 spools embroidery threads, a box of washi tape, a roll of cork, two rolls of PU pleather, a 6" x 24" acrylic ruler, and a generous pkg (about 3 yds) lightweight batting. The exciting thing for me is I have been a customer of Sweet Pea for many years. They have excellent digitized designs and superb instructions to go with each design. I have used several of their designs on the purse flaps and will continue to do so. They are Australian-based; a very safe site to order and download your designs from. Again to the staff of Sweet Pea down under, I am thankful you have come alongside Sew Powerful and contributed several prizes. Thank you Team Sew Powerful for making this possible."

- Jill R.

"I won a package of Tula Pink ribbons from Renaissance Ribbons. I LOVE them. The ribbons are bright and beautiful."

- Judy J.

"I really like the Beezu Handmade acrylic templates for fussy cutting purse flaps, the clever thimble kit from Cathy's Creations, and 15 colorful yds of ribbon from Renaissance Ribbon."

- Judy M.

"Thank you to My Girlfriends Quilt Shoppe for my 'treat' and for supporting Sew Powerful!"

- Julia C.

"My prize came from My Girlfriends Quilt Shoppe. I am giving thanks and starting to use it today. Everything about it is wonderful! Thank you so much!"

- Karen V.

"I absolutely LOVE my new Kai Scissor Set that I won in the Sew-A-Thon! Thank you so much to the generosity of Kai for donating these prizes. The set came with 8", 5 1/2", and 4" scissors so there is a pair of scissors for all of my sewing needs. My old scissors weren't "cutting it" any longer so these came at a great time. They will certainly help me sew some beautiful purses for the girls."

- Lynne W.

"I was so happy to receive the prize from My Girlfriends Quilt Shoppe. Everything works great and I used the tools to help me make these pillows for my morot home. So glad to be a part of this amazing ministry."

- Mary D.

"I was thrilled to receive the Girlfriend's Bundle from My Girlfriends Quilt Shoppe. It contains all the essentials to make a Sew Powerful purse!"

- Mary F.

"Huge thanks to Kai for sending me this scissor set. I am a long-time sewist and have used many different fabric scissors over the years but these really impressed me with how sharp they are. I was recently asked to make a dozen memory ornaments out of a cherished robe. These scissors were ideal for this project. I used all three scissors in making these. Each scissor was perfect for a different task."

- MaryAlice L.

"When I found out my prize, I was super happy because Kai scissors are my favorite brand! I've been cutting with Kai scissors for well over a decade and will use no other brand. They are beautifully crafted and stay sharp. Treat them well and they will last years and years! Thank you Kai for this set of scissors which will keep me performing efficiently in my sewing room!"

- Millie M.

"I received this wonderful prize package! The rotary cutter is very comfortable to use. And I LOVE that they included lip balm - maybe I'm not the only one who gets chapped lips when I sew! Thank you so much, My Girlfriend's Quilt Shoppe!"

- Peggy G.

"I've never had new scissors, so didn't know what I was missing! Love, love, love my Kai scissors set from the Sew-A-Thon prize wheel. They're lightweight, but SO sharp; I especially appreciate being able to make fine snips with the sharp points. I wear the little ones on a ribbon around my neck when sewing, to keep them handy for do-overs. My thanks to Kai for their generosity in supporting Sew Powerful."

- Shannon G.

"I LOVE my prize bundle: the Beginner purse template set, the Ugly Thimble kit, and a spool of Renaissance Ribbon! Thank you to our generous sponsors!"

- Susan P.

- Vanessa L.

"I am thrilled and honored to receive this beautiful gift. I've been sewing purses for girls for 6 years now and have been blessed beyond measure. I've almost reached 3,000 purses sewn. I've been using a scissors I got for high school graduation in 1970, and my original rottery cutter from 30 years ago. You have seriously upgraded my tools! And they are so beautiful! Thank you so much for participating in the Sew-A-Thon! And blessing others. I feel sew blessed!"

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the purpose of the 2024 Sew Powerful Sew-A-Thon Fundraiser?

A. The fundraiser is intended to engage our community of purse makers and to extend the knowledge about Sew Powerful and our mission to their friends and family. It is our main fundraising activity in the Fall and the funds are needed to continue our mission in Zambia.

Q. How does my company enroll as a sponsor?

A. Simply click on the SIGN UP TODAY button above to go the enrollment form.

Q. Why are you offering early enrollment incentives?

A. The discount is our way of saying 'thank you' to those who join the Sew-A-Thon early and helps us plan for the rest of our campaign.

Q. What are the benefits to my company if we become a sponsor?

A. Our very large and growing community of purse makers will be exposed to your company through the Sew Powerful newsletter, our social medial presence, and our very active website. We expect the exposure to be in the neighborhood of 500K contacts.

In addition, by signing up early, your company will be on the Sew Powerful website starting in January and will have exposure all throughout the year leading up to the Sew-A-Thon.

You will also be supplied with a badge to place on your website to let your web visitors know that you support empowering women and girls in Zambia.

Q. Where is the Sew Powerful community? How would you describe them?

A. Approximately 90% of our community resides in all 50 of the United States, but our purse makers can also be found in Canada, the UK, Australia, the EU, India, and Brazil. Mostly our purse makers are women who sew, many who quilt, typically retired, and who have the time and money to spend on well-curated products, such as those sold by your company.

Q. What are the levels of sponsorship?

A. There are five levels of sponsorship: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Each level offers more benefits in exchange for a more significant investment in our Sew-A-Thon. More details can be found in the Sponsorship Guide.

Q. Rather than donating prizes to the Sew-A-Thon, can we make a financial contribution instead?

A. Absolutely. When you enroll, you are given that option. Financial donors receive the same level of recognition as prize contributors.

Q. Do you offer other opportunities to partner with Sew Powerful?

A. Yes! When you complete your Sew-A-Thon sponsorship enrollment form, you will be asked if you would like your business to become an Official Sew Powerful Purse Collection Site. This gives you the opportunity to bring our community into your business to drop off their completed purses, and then shop in your store. We will provide you with signage to alert you customers of your designation. More details when you sign up.

If you have ideas or suggestions for other partnership opportunities, please contact us at janc@sewpowerful.org.
