Feeding The Hungry

In 2024, we're working to serve 9,000 children hot lunches daily. We hope you'll join us as we answer Jesus' admonition to feed those who are hungry.

Your Help Is Urgently Needed...

Thanks to a generous offer from Convoy of Hope, we are being given the chance to expand to serve 26 schools, and 11,700 children daily. But we cannot do it without financial support. The additional program expenses will mean we need to increase our ministry budget - so we can hire the team, build the kitchens, and pay for the ongoing cooking supplies to make this a reality. We are praying for God's provision for these precious children.

What We Do

We started working to feed the hungry kids of Ngombe Compound (Lusaka) in 2015 with 10 acres of bare land and a desire to respond to God's call to feed desperately hungry kids.

Today we employ over 60 local team members and serve 23 feeding centers in the poorest urban slum in Lusaka.

Together we serve 9,000 children daily with food generously donated by Convoy of Hope and supplemented with fresh greens and fruit from our farm. We also serve over 1,000 more vulnerable people with fresh food right in their homes with backyard gardens.

Our three core programs are:

1) The 3 Esthers Farm
2) Backyard Gardens
3) Hot Lunches

We employ our team with good paying jobs asking them to serve their community to make a local impact. We believe James 1:27 says it well,

"True religion that God our fathers accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

We hope you'll join us as we answer Jesus' admonition to feed those who are hungry.

Who We Serve

23 Schools

We’re serving 23 schools with our daily feeding program in partnership with Convoy Of Hope. Children receive a nutritious hot lunch. The Schools receive a staffing grant for a cook and program coordinator – as well as support with logistics such as kitchen construction and water management. Farm fresh food is also provided from the 3 Esthers Farm.

Serving Schools

120 Households

As vocational training for teens, we’re growing backyard gardens for 120 households in Ngombe Compound – the most difficult urban slum in Lusaka Zambia. There are 9 family members in each house on average. They receive the blessing of a backyard garden – and the teens receive vocational training and a stipend to help them further their education.

Supporting Widows

10,000 Fed

Through the School Feeding Initiative we’ll serve 9,000 children. Through the backyard gardens we’ll serve another 900. We’ll serve hundreds more in the community through direct assistance to the most needy.

Feeding People

60 Team Members

We employ 60 local team members through our 3 core programs (the farm, the feeding initiative, and the backyard gardens). Each is given the dignity of work – and the joy of knowing their work is directly helping improve their community.

More About The Food Relief Network

We serve in partnership with local community schools to feed hungry children a daily hot lunch. Our cooks and coordinators serve at each school in the network to administer the daily programs. Together we are the Food Relief Network operating in Ngombe Compound, Lusaka Zambia.

Fresh vegetables and fruits are trucked in from their nearby 3 Esthers Farm to supplement the fortified rice that is donated by American farmers in partnership with Convoy of Hope.

Our ministry goes beyond food. We also work together through the Sew Powerful Purse Program and Gospel literature distribution.

Not Just Food, Vocational Education Too!

Our backyard garden team learns valuable agricultural skills as they serve their community.

Our innovative Backyard program not only grows nutritious food right in community members backyards but also provides vocational training (and a stipend) to teens who want to learn a new skill and help their community.

Each team member manages can manage up to ten gardens. Each garden feeds nine people on average. Together, they serve over 1,000 of the community's most vulnerable and undernourished members. Many are widow headed households.

Growing Food To Feed The Hungry

At the 3 Esthers Farm we grow vegetables and orchard fruits to help boost nutrition.

Our nutritious vegetable crops and orchard fruit add an additional boost to our school feeding programs.

Vegetables like cabbage, tomatoes, onions, eggplant, and leafy greens are harvested three times a year.

Orchard fruits like bananas, mango, papaya, oranges, and guava are harvested all year long.

Our food is grown for the sole purpose of feeding the hungry and we rush it from the farm to the schools we serve as quickly as we can.

The farm also serves as an outdoor classroom for our backyard gardeners as they learn valuable vocational skils.
