Miss Evelyn’s Joy

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. This parable teaches us that we can be poor in material things, yet rich in faith and joy.

  • Concept: Jane is a high achieving high school student who volunteers at the local foodbank. One of her favorite foodbank users is Miss Evelyn, an older woman who provides food for her neighbors in need. Although not wealthy herself, Miss Evelyn shares freely with others what she has. Jane decides to do something nice just for Miss Evelyn and buys gifts for her. On her next visit to the foodbank, Jane discovers that Miss Evelyn has given away the gifts to friends and neighbors. Upset, Jane confronts Miss Evelyn and receives a lesson in the essence of Joy.
