Moved to Tears

Moved to Tears

By Julie Sorget—Midland, Michigan

My involvement with Sew Powerful purses began when I read the book, Unfinished-Believing Is Only The Beginning, by Richard Stearns, President of World Vision.

The book touched my heart by challenging me, as a follower of Christ, to find my purpose and serve the Lord by giving my time, talent or treasure, to the poor and hurting in the world. Feeling unsettled and upset, I cried out to the Lord, “What is it you want me to do?”

The still, small voice in my head reminded me (rather loudly) of my sewing skill! I was so excited! Booting up my computer, I Googled charitable sewing, and Sew Powerful popped up. I read their mission, and was moved to tears. The peace that I felt was amazing! You see, I have some health issues, and am early retired. My unsettled feeling reading the book came from wondering how in the world I could serve in my home.

God had a plan for me, and I am so thankful that I can serve, doing it with the talent He has given me. As I sew each purse, I pray for the girl that will be receiving it.

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40
