Upcycling XXXL GIK Into Messenger Bags
One of our current projects is to increase the flow of Gift-In-Kind (donated) XXXL (or other large sized garments) to sewing projects. When the seamstresses receive these items they can very quickly and easily up cycle (0r cut up and repurpose) these items. The items aren’t being distributed to children in need around the world via the “normal” GIK donation process because they are such odd sizes.
Here are some examples:
Once seamstresses learn how to take an item, (like a cool messenger bag), and use it as a pattern – they can upcycle this type of garment and turn it into a product that blesses the children in their community.
We have more fun examples I’ll share in another post!
