Situated on the shores of scenic Lake Martin, Alexander City, AL is home to the Sewl Sisters Chapter of Sew Powerful. Formed in early 2022, the Chapter provides an outlet for local women to learn to sew or perfect the sewing skills they have. The members warmly laugh, pray, and share life’s joys and struggles as they sew along. The icing on the cake is knowing the purses and notecards they produce will be going to schoolgirls in Zambia as an incentive to stay in school all month.
Alexander City, or Alex City as the locals refer to their hometown, boasts many stately century homes, great schools and where you will find the Central Alabama Community College campus. The famous Piedmont Plateau Birding Trail brings thousands of birders to the area every year. The Opelika Sewing Center in nearby Auburn, AL supports the Sewl Sisters Chapter with fabric donations as their contribution to the ministry. The Sewl Sisters welcome members from Kellyton, Sylacauga, Dadeville, Goodwater and everyone in Tallapoosa County.
